The best places to watch the sunset in Cornwall
Nothing says ‘I’m on holiday’ quite like watching the sun set over the ocean, preferably with a beer in hand. The North and West coasts of our little county have some real gems in this regard. So below are what i consider the absolute best places to watch the sunset in Cornwall.

Godrevy
Having a point of interest in the foreground is key for getting good sunset photos. Godrevy Lighthouse offers up just that. You can get a great angle of the lighthouse from the cliffs or from the beach as the skies turn from blue to pink to gold.

Holywell Bay
My favourite beach in Cornwall (click here to see the others on my list!) is also one of the best places to watch the sunset. My advice is to head up over the sanddunes to the cliffs above the beach. Settle on a picnic blanket, and watch as the sun disappears behind Gull Rock.

Kynance Cove
Popular for good reason, Kynance is often voted one of the best beaches in the UK. The dramatic rocks, golden sands and crystal clear water attract huge crowds in the summer. But Kynance is suprisingly quiet in the evenings. So bag yourself a good spot overlooking the beach (try to time it for low tide even if you aren’t going onto the sands) and enjoy having the place to yourself.

Wheal Coates/St Agnes Head
Just a quick walk/drive from one another are 2 great sunset spots, so i’ve combined them here. Wheal Coates is just one of Cornwall’s many abandoned mines. And this one is not only well preserved, it also sits in a great spot overlooking the sea. It’s about a 5 minute walk from the car park and there aren’t many places to sit but it makes for great photos. Alternatively, St Agnes Head is just a little further on and is a wonderful spot if you want to watch the sunset from the comfort of your car. Pro tip: grab a pizza from The Cornish Pizza Co. in St Agnes before driving up and you’ve got yourself a sunset car picnic. Result.

Watergate Bay
Considered one of Cornwall’s best surf beaches, Watergate is a huge expanse of sand and sea. You’ve got multiple options here – park up at the top of the cliffs to get a birds eye view. Head to one of the popular bars on the front (like this one) to enjoy a bevvie or something to eat. Or why not grab your surf board and paddle out to watch the sunset from the water? I can’t think of anything that says ‘Cornwall holiday’ more than that.

There you have it – the best places to watch the sunset in Cornwall. Of course, there are 100 others I could have mentioned! You really can’t go wrong with anywhere on the North or West coast. If you’ve been to Cornwall, let me know which is your favourite spot to watch the sunset. x
