Highlights include Kynance Cove’s clear waters, Pentire Point’s dramatic coast, the Greek-inspired Minack Theatre, St Michael’s Mount’s tidal charm, Bedruthan Steps’ limestone formations, and the idyllic Isles of Scilly, reminiscent of the Caribbean.

8 of the prettiest fishing villages in Cornwall

    April 15, 2025April 28, 2025 Cornwall, UK travel

Before it became the tourist hot spot it is now, Cornwall’s primary industries were mining and fishing. The mines have been left as ruins or turned into museums, and the fishing industry has been downsized significantly. However the picturesque villages with their scenic harbours and gently bobbing boats…

Despite not eating dairy, I consider myself a bit of a pizza connoisseur. Although all pizza is a good investment, I can also tell the difference between an OK pizza and a truly great one. And luckily for me there are plenty of great pizza places in Cornwall….

Olivia stands leaning against a wall, in front of some roman ruins. She's wearing a black and white dress, with a camera around her neck.

Hi, welcome! I'm Liv and I love exploring my local area, as well as adventuring around the rest of the UK and Europe, usually joined by my husband Matt, and pup, Merlin.

If affordable, bite size travel and the occasional campervan roadtrip sound like your kind of thing then stick around and let's explore together.

📍Hayle, Cornwall Hey, do you remember when it was 📍Hayle, Cornwall
Hey, do you remember when it was sunny that one time for a couple of days?
The rain and wind may be back in full force this week but at least we have our memories, eh? 😅
Anyway, before it HOPEFULLY brightens up again, I’ve been scrolling through videos of this lovely solo date in Hayle. Started with coffee and vegan brekkie at the terrific @gilberts_hayle and made my way along the coast path overlooking the beach. Picked up a second coffee at @covecafehaylebeach before heading down onto the sand and back into town.
I’m always surprised this area isn’t busier. It’s as if people go straight through Hayle to get to St Ives when really there are some great food spots and beautiful views here too!

Well what a gorgeous couple of days we are having 🥰. I’d be lying if I said this photo was from this weekend though - Matt and I stay way clear of the coast during half term! Beauty spots like this are only enjoyable to me when they’re empty or close to it 😅
Anyway, hope you all made the most of the weather with some combination of the British bank holiday trifecta; BBQ, beach and beer! 😂

📍Holwell Lawn I have wanted to see these bluebells 📍Holwell Lawn
I have wanted to see these bluebells fields for a long time. Although the weather wasn’t the best this weekend, the bluebells were at their peak so it was now or never (well, now or next year, technically!)
We got here early on Sunday morning and had the place mostly to ourselves. That dramatic view of Haytor in the distance really added to the magic.
Will have to revisit next time on a sunny day and do the walk to Emsworthy Mire.
Any excuse to come back to Dartmoor…. 😉
