The best vegan restaurants in London
London is one of the vegan capitals of the world and it’s easy to get overwhelmed with choice here, both as a vegan and an omnivore! The food scene is ever growing and shifting, and there are as many new places popping up as there are ones that are sadly shutting. There is an endless number of cuisines to choose from. And you can get anything from a £2.50 falafel wrap to a Michelin Star tasting menu! But below are what I consider some of the best vegan restaurants in London. The ones which have stood the test of time, and where it’s impossible to order wrong!

Jam Delish
When I still ate meat, Carribbean cuisine was one of my favourites. I used to get a jamaican patty on my way to school almost every morning, and saltfish and ackee on my way home! So coming across Jam Delish was a real hit of nostalgia. When we visited they had a residency in a Soho pub. But they proved so popular that it wasn’t long before they moved to their own restaurant in Islington. Think ‘oxtail’ stuffed plantain, curry ‘goat’, and of course jerk ‘chicken’. The flavours are bold and punchy and absolutely delicious.

Club Mexicana
I don’t think you can really go wrong with Mexican food. It’s reliably flavourful, filling and fun to eat. And Club Mexicana are no exception. You’ll find all the classics on the menu, but with a clever vegan twist. I highly recommend their rib and al pastor tacos, but I don’t think you can go wrong with anything. Club Mexicana have a few branches around London, the most recent in Leicester Square, so keep an eye out on their locations here.

LD’s Kitchen
If meat was king in your life before you became vegan, then you want to visit LD’s Kitchen. Hailing from Bristol but currently in residence at The Black Heart in Camden and Saint Monday Brewery in Hackney, these guys really know how to make meaty vegan food. Their smokehouse offerings include super realistic ribs and brisket, while their Sunday dinner is by far the best I’ve ever had. I recommend the beef or pork belly with crackling. Hurry though as they won’t be around for much longer in these locations (fingers crossed they’ve got a permanent spot sorted!).

Mildred’s
An oldie but a goodie. No list of vegan restaurants is complete without a mention of the original vegan spot. Opening in Soho way back in 1988, they brought vegetarian food to the masses. Now they are fully plant based, and more popular than ever. Their menu is eclectic – chick’n burgers, kimchi rices dishes, tacos – but it means there is something for everyone here. Just don’t miss their white chocolate tiramisu. I’ve been dreaming about it for weeks.

Tofu Vegan
I don’t say this lightly – Tofu Vegan is the best chinese restaurant I have ever been to in my life (as an omnivore or a vegan!). When they first opened their doors they were so popular that it was almost impossible to get a table weeks in advance. So no wonder they now have several branches across town and are still regularly voted the best vegan restaurant in London. The menu is extensive and includes both classics and more traditional Chinese dishes, and everything is incredible. If you have a meat eating friend who you want to introduce to vegan cooking, bring them here. And make sure to get the wontons in special sauce to start, and some version of their ‘fish’. Sublime.

Unity Diner
A restaurant that not only serves excellent food but is non profit and sustainable sounds almost too good to be true, but Unity Diner proves it’s possible. Originally created by Ed Winters aka Earthling Ed to support Surge Animal Sanctuary, it actually shut it’s doors for a short time in 2025. But such was the uproar that it was only 2 months before they reopened! It’s a great spot for comfort food – doner kebabs, tofish and chips, hot dogs – as any diner should be. But this one also comes with the comforting thought that 100% of your profits go towards saving animals. What could be better?
TANGRA
If punchy, fiery flavours are your cup of (chai) tea, then look no further than the Soho based TANGRA. Inspired by Indo-Chinese street food, every dish is some sort of combination of spicy and sweet, and crunchy and saucy. Dishes are brought out as they are cooked, into a setting that resembles a late night diner. Don’t miss their alcoholic milkshakes – the mango one is TO DIE FOR – or the lolli-popcorn chick’n. We liked it so much we ordered seconds!

This list of the best vegan restaurants in London is by no means extensive. I could list another 10 restuarants I love, and another 20 I have yet to visit! But I hope this gives you an idea of how varied vegan food is these days in the capital.
